Towanda (3-3) welcomes Wellsboro (1-5) for some Thursday night football.
The Knights are coming off a big win over CV while Wellsboro suffered their fourth straight loss of the season, falling to Athens (44-0).
"Wellsboro is an athletic team with some really good skilled kids, and their line really gets off the ball," said Towanda coach Jamie Wecker. "Defensively, they move to the ball well and really force your offense to play mistake-free football."
Expect Towanda to keep spreading the ball around as they continue to refine their offense.
"I felt like we did a really good job of moving the ball regardless of whose hands we put it in last week," said Wecker. "Being able to get the ball to several different players just makes us a better offense overall. I thought our offensive line blocked really well, and our backs followed the blocks better than in the last few weeks. Also, Reese threw some really good balls when we needed him to. We were sloppy at times, so we need to clean that up, but I liked our effort."
KEYS TO THE GAME
Wellsboro - Slow down Towanda's backs. The Knights are doing well spreading the ball around, which will make it even harder for the Hornets to key in on any one person.
Towanda - Cut down on the penalties. They did a good job sharing the ball, and dominated CV defensively, but didn't pull away sooner due to their penalties.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Christian Main, Wellsboro, WR - Main leads the team with 16 catches for 219-yards and a touchdown, somebody for the Towanda defense to keep an eye on.
Tommy Bowen, Towanda, LB - Bowen has 18 tackles on the season, with four tackles for loss, so watch him to make plays on the defensive side of the ball.
