ON TAP TODAY: SIX CONTESTS FOR A SUNNY, BREEZY SPRING DAY (2021-05-06)

A much better day for the six baseball and softball games for today.

SOFTBALL

Wyalusing (2-4) at Troy (5-4), 5 p.m.: The Rams make their long waited return to the field after their Covid-19 induced break, and they face the red hot Trojans, winners of five straight games. The game have been moved back half an hour to accommodate Wyalusing.

Towanda (3-7) at NP-Liberty (4-9), 4:30 p.m.: The Knights are playing shorthanded, but are facing the last placed team in the division in NPL. This starts a 3-day, 4-game stretch for Towanda as they try to get back in the playoff hunt.

NEB (9-0) at CV (9-2), 4:30 p.m.: Probably the biggest game of the day - outside of Wellsboro-Athens - as the Indians will get their first shot at NEB. A win by the Panthers pretty much locks up another division title, a win by CV ends NEB’s years long division-only win streak, and puts the division title back in play.

BASEBALL

NEB (3-6) at CV (6-8), 4:30 p.m.: A big game for both teams as they try to get to .500 to make the District IV, Class A playoffs. If either, or both, teams get in they have a good shot at playing in a title game, as there is only one team above. 500 (St. John Neumann) in the whole district at the moment.

Towanda (1-10) at NP-Mansfield (8-6-1), 4:30 p.m.: Both teams are coming off losses to their rivals. Towanda won their first match-up, so will look to take the season series.

Wyalusing (7-4) at Troy (3-7), 4:30 p.m.: This game will start on time as the Ram baseball team will be able to leave on time. Wyalusing is back in the division title hunt after wins over Williamson and Towanda, but can’t afford any more blips from here on out. The Trojans will need a win to get back in the district playoff hunt.
