Northern Tier Sports Report
ATHENS — A first half goal was the difference in Wyalusing's 1-0 loss to Athens during NTL girls soccer action Thursday.
Everleigh Warring scored 13 minutes into the contest on a free kick that bounced in the box, and she was in the right place at the right time.
The Rams had their chances, including an opportunity when the keeper was out, but Jenna Morningstar's shot was blocked by a defender.
"The girls played a great game, the numbers were very evenly matched," said Wyalusing coach Katie Fischer. "Athens just managed to sneak one past us, but I’m proud of how well we’re working together as a team. We’re going to keep pushing forward and building momentum as we head into districts!"
Athens led Wyalusing 10-8 in shots, with Sierra Gromley getting eight keeper saves in net.
