VOLLEYBALL: WYALUSING FALLS TO PINE GROVE IN STATE PLAY-IN MATCH (November 8, 2026)
Northern Tier Sports Report
WILLIAMSPORT — Wyalusing fell to Pine Grove, 3-0, during their Class AA PIAA play-in match on Saturday.
The Rams lost the sets 25-13, 25-23, and 25-19.
The match ended their season, though they were one of the last teams standing from the NTL.
"When you look at our season we played great volleyball," Wyalusing coach Elizabeth VanDerpool said. "The girls are strong. We had great games, we took second in districts, and we came here trying to get to states, so just the season overall we had a great bunch of girls."
They say good-bye to seniors Kirra Millard, Josie Ferris, Emily Johns, and Addi VanDerpool.
"We're going to miss every single one of them," VanDerpool said. "Kirra’s strong defense and leadership on the court were a big part of our success this season. I am so grateful for everything she brought to this program. I hate that her season was cut short due to injury, but that never changed how important she was to this team. Addi's effort and energy on the court, her defense and offense, her serves this year, getting aces, she's probably the top ace, and just all of that. Emily, our all-around MVP, a great volleyball player, and Josie being our key setter, and just working hard on defense and offense this year, and that was pretty cool seeing everything she accomplished as our right side hitter, and our setter. They leave a lot for the girls underneath them. They built the program, and I'm just proud of them."
