Its district championship week as a few local softball teams battle for a District IV title.

Monday, May 31

NEB (14-0) vs Canton (13-8) at Elm Park, 2 p.m.: The Warriors may have lost to NEB twice during the regular season, but they come in hot after a season ending win over Wyalusing, then thrashing CV in the first round of the playoffs. The Panthers, though, are undefeated for a reason - twice turning close games with Canton into comfortable victories - winning 9-1 and 8-2. The winner plays on Wednesday for the district title against the winner of Millville/Montgomery.

Wyalusing (11-8) vs East Juniata (11-8), at Elm Park, Noon: Wyalusing’s 8-game wining streak over the second half of their season got them to the two seed, though they ended the year on a 2-game losing streak. Whichever Wyalusing team shows up will determine if they advance to Wednesday’s title game or not. EJ limped to the playoffs, going 2-3 over their last five games. They’ve lost to the defending district champions, Line Mountain, 1-0, and 14-0 this year. The winner will get the winner of Line Mountain/Muncy.
