LITTLE LEAGUE: TROY MINORS STAYS ALLIVE AS MOST GAMES PPD AGAIN (2021-07-01)
Northern Tier Sports ReportA few games were able to squeeze in between the rain drops on Thursday, but several were also postponed to Friday.
MINORS BASEBALL
In loser’s bracket action Troy was able to out pace Blue Ridge 13-9 to stay alive. They will travel to Athens on Saturday, with a 3 p.m. start.
Athens lost to Wellsboro 4-2 in the winner’s bracket semifinal to fall to the loser’s bracket.
The two other games were postponed - Southern Tioga at Towanda in the winner’s bracket, and Canton at Tunkhannock in the loser’s bracket. Both of those games will be made up on Friday, 6 p.m. starts.
9-10-11 BASEBALL
RTL rolled past Athens 26-1 to finish pool play undefeated at 3-0. Montrose at Sayre was postponed for a second day, and will be made up on Friday with a 6 p.m. start.
Bracket play is slated to start on Monday, July 5, with RTL in the top seed.
MAJORS BASEBALL
Susquehanna Area hosting Tunkhannock in loser’s bracket action was once again postponed due to rain. They will play Friday, with the winner slated to travel to Sayre on Saturday.
Also on Friday Troy will host Allegheny Mountain in loser’s bracket action to face the winner of Sayre-Susquehanna Area/Tunkhannock on the following Monday.
MINORS SOFTBALL
Southern Tioga at RTL was suspended for the second day in a row, and will finish up on Friday at RTL. The winner stays alive, the loser is done.
Also on Friday, Towanda will host Susquehanna County at 6 p.m. in the winner’s bracket.
MAJORS SOFTBALL
RTL at Tunkhannock was postponed Thursday, and will be played on Friday.
They’re the only two teams left, and RTL needs to beat Tunkhannock twice to win the district title. If there is a second game, it is slated to be played on Saturday, though the forecast for that day doesn’t look promising.
