WAVERLY HOOPS CAMP: CANTON'S WILLIAMS, TROY'S SPENCER EARN AGE GROUP MVP HONORS (2021-07-12)

WAVERLY, N.Y. — The Waverly boys’ basketball camp recently concluded last week, with several players from Bradford County taking part.

In the Division-II age bracket the team champions were Frostburg State, featuring Troy’s Spencer Martin and Brooks Hicks, and Wyalusing’s Dillon Gonsauls, Landon Knolles, and Tylor Grove.


Earning individual awards were Towanda’s Joshua Maye (3-point shooting), while Troy’s Joey Lackey, and Anson Harris teamed with Waverly’s Micael Chandler to win the 3-on-3 competition.


Other individual winners were Knolles (Hot Shot Champion), Martin (1-on-1 Champion), Troy’s Eli Ayers (Knock-out Champion), and Harris (1/2 Camp Scholarship).


Martin was named the MVP as Lackey, Ayers, and Towanda’s Boom Thompson made the All-Star team.


In the NBA Division the Bucks won the team title, which featured three Canton players: Caiden Williams, Ashton Rockwell, and Ben Fitch.


Williams was named the MVP for the age group, with Canton’s Isaiah Niemczyk making the All-Star team.


Canton’s Cooper Kitchen won the Foul Shooting Award as well.


At the Division-I level Oral Roberts won the team title. They featured Canton’s Talen Williams, along with Troy’s Pryor Teribury and Joseph Frye.


Troy had three All-stars: Noah Ellis, Jack Burbage, and Frye. Frye also teamed with Sayre’s Hogan Shaw, and Mansfield’s Andy Hermenson to win the 3-on-3 title.
