TURBOTVILLE — Towanda opened Section III Minors softball action with a 13-3 win in four innings over Jersey Shore on Wednesday.

Their hurler Kendal Cook struck out 11 batters, and was responsible for the last six outs of the game.

Walks were the theme of the day as both teams got their runs largely off them.

Mary-Kate Eberlin led the team with four runs scored, as Kaylen Sluyter crossed home three times. Cook scored twice, with Maris Cobb, Molly Roberts, and Sadie Overpeck also crossing home. Eberlin, Cook, and Haileigh Lineburgh all walked four times.

Towanda was down 3-1 in the second when they rallied with 12 unanswered runs over the next two innings.

Towanda will face Central Columbia today at 5:30 p.m. back at Turbotville.
