AAU SOFTBALL: BC PRIDE OPEN STRONG AT KEYSTONE CHAMPIONSHIPS (2021-07-17)

STATE COLLEGE — It was a strong start for the BC Pride at the Keystone State Championships on Saturday.

The Pride went 3-0 to earn the top seed for Sunday’s bracket action.


In the opener they defeated Jersey Shore 3-1 as Thailey Franklin got the win, striking out five with four hits, and an earned run.


At the plate Franklin was 2-for-3 with a double, while Brea Overpeck had an RBI triple.


Keri Wesneski, Sydney Friedlander, Julia Brown, and Rylin Graham also had hits. Wesneski, Brown, and Allyson Butcher each scored a run, with Graham and Allie Liddick each knocking one in.


BC took a 2-0 lead in the fourth as Butcher walked, followed by Brown getting a hit. They were brought in by Liddick and Graham later in the inning.


Jersey Shore got one run back in the bottom half of the inning, but in the fifth BC scored again as Wesneski was brought in by Overpeck’s triple.


The BC Pride then beat the Force 7-0 in their second game.


Friedlander went 3-for-3 with a double, and two runs scored, while Butcher had a double, with a run scored. McKenna Lightner had a hit with two runs scored, too.


Franklin, Overpeck, Brown, Kinner, and Graham each had a hit, with Butcher, Brown, and Kinner each scoring a run.


Franklin tossed a shutout in the win, striking out two with three hits.


Their final win was 2-1 against Mid-State Madness.


Mid-State went up 1-0 in the top of the first, BC Pride got that run back in the bottom half of the inning as Friedlander led off with a hit, and eventually scored.


They went ahead in the third as Lightner led off with a hit, and later scored for the 2-1 final.


Wesneski got the win, allowing just one hit, and one earned run.


Friedlander, Kinner, Overpeck, Brown, and Lightner each had a hit.
