NTL GOLF: WYALUSING TAKES 4TH AT SHEPARD HILLS (2021-08-25)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWAVERLY, N.Y. — Wyalusing had a strong opening golf match as the NTL started their season at Shepard Hills on Wednesday.
The Rams went 3-3 on the day, posting a team score of 399 to take fourth out of seventh.
It was a 3-way battle for the top spot between Sayre (377), Athens (378) and Wellsboro (382), while Towanda (440) was fifth, Cowanesque Valley (444) came in sixth, and NP-Mansfield (481) was seventh.
Brody Fuhrey shot 91 to lead the Rams, and took fourth overall on the course. He shot a 12-over 49 on the front nine, but did score a birdie on the par-4 fourth hole. On the back nine he found his stroke, shooting a 7-over 42, which included four pars.
Nick Salsman was second on the team with a 98, parring two holes on the course. Grady Cobb notched a 104, Trehnon Hugo and Kaden Kusmierz both carded 106, and Nick Vanderpool Jr. came away with a 118.
Kusmierz had three pars on the day, with Cobb getting two and Hugo notching one.
Medalist honors went to Sayre’s Kannon VanDuzer, shot a 79.
The NTL will be back in action next Tuesday at Towanda Golf Club.
