NTL GIRLS' SOCCER: WYALUSING COMES UP SHORT AGAINST MILTON (2021-10-21)

>Northern Tier Sports Report
WYALUSING — Except for a few minutes early in the second half, Wyalusing played even with Milton during non-league girls’ soccer action. However, the Black Panthers pushed in two goals off corner kicks to start the final 40 minutes to nab the 2-0 win Thursday.

Play was level for the first 40 minutes, with Wyalusing’s Olivia Haley nearly giving her team a lead on a breakaway. She got the last Milton defender on her hip as she closed in on the goal, but Milton goalie Morgan Reiner came out, and got enough of the ball to deflect Haley’s shot just wide.

After a scoreless first half, Milton came out strong in the second, forcing the action Wyalusing’s end. Their first goal came on a deflection from Ryen Roush that went up over the Ram defense, but made it just under the cross-bar.

The second goal, just minutes later, came on a rebound off a Pearl O’Connor save. Milton’s Leah Walter then put a low shot just inside the right post for the 2-0 lead.

O’Connor finished with 16 saves for the Rams, while Reiner made 12 saves to get the clean sheet.

The contest was the season finale for Wyalusing, who also used it as their Pink Out. They’ll wait to see who they play in districts, with the brackets coming out Sunday.
