NTL FOOTBALL: TOWANDA LOOKS TO GET THE T-BONE BACK AGAINST TUNKHANNOCK (2021-10-22)

Towanda (0-7) renews their rivalry with Tunkhannock (2-6) tonight, as they look to take the T-Bone back from the Tigers.

“We look forward to renewing this rivalry for the coming years,” said Towanda coach Craig Dawsey. “Tunkhannock is a much better team than what their record indicates. They have some very talented athletes in key spots.”

Tunkhannock started the year 2-1, but have lost five straight, recently falling to Scranton Prep (52-21) last week.

The Knights have played better as of late, taking CV to the wire a few weeks ago, and playing a 6-win Troy tough for a half.

“We have to keep playing fundamental football for us to prevail in key situations through out the game,” Dawsey said. “We have had some break downs in which have led to some disappointing situations. Hopefully, we can avoid those during this game.”

TUNKHANNOCK

Player to watch: Ben Chilson, QB - Chilson is big - 6-foot, 5-inches - and can run and throw for the Tigers. In their win over Crestwood he ran for 33 yards, while throwing for 108 and two touchdowns.

Key to the game: Don’t go away from the run - Tunkhannock is an offense built for passing, but in their win over Pittston they showed they could run the ball, too. They would do well to go to the ground as Towanda has had some trouble with the run this year.

TOWANDA

Player to watch: Quinton Woodburn, S - Tunkhannock has a good passing game, so expect Woodburn to have a busy night. He has 42 tackles on the year, so his nose has been in a lot of plays, irregardless. 

Key to the game: Manufacture a running game - Last week they had just 14 yards rushing against Troy. The Trojans boast a tough defense, so look for the Knights to bounce back on the ground this week.
