NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: NEB EXCITED TO OPEN SEASON (2021-11-19)

ROME — It was all business on the first day of practice for the NEB girls’ basketball team on Friday. 

The defending NTL Division-II champions took to the court to kick-off the winter sports season on the first day of formal practice.

“The girls, they’re fired up,” said coach Ben Beebe. “They want to contend for a district title. That’s the excitement. They’re here to work hard, and they’re really good at it.”

Their numbers are at about where he expected with a little more than dozen, once they’re all healthy. It means they’ll be able to play a full JV schedule, something they weren’t able to do in 2020.

“We had a big freshman class come in, we have seven freshmen,” said Beebe. “It’s better than in the past.”
