NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA'S NEW COACH HENRY EXCITED ABOUT UPCOMING SEASON (2021-11-22)

Northern Tier Sports Report
TOWANDA — Towanda boys’ basketball was back in the gym for their third practice of the season, and new head coach Landon Henry is getting broken in.

“It’s been awesome working with these guys,” said Henry. “They’ve welcomed me, they’ve accepted me. The energy is very good, it’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to working with this group more.”

The Knights return several key players from last year as they look to turn things around after several losing seasons in a row.

Last year’s coach Ryan Napp resigned to coach at Mansfield University this past fall. Henry, who was going to be a volunteer assistant, jumped at the chance to get it.

“An opportunity like that I couldn’t pass on,” he said. “I believe in myself, and I believe in these guys that I made the right decision, for sure.”

Henry played basketball and football at Hughesville before graduating in 2017. He believes that experience will help him out on the sidelines.

“Basketball has been a love since I was a young kid,” he said. “When I was a player I was one of the most vocal leaders on my teams. My coaches demanded that from me, to be an extension of the coaching staff. Just being able to translate that to coaching will help me.”
