NTL WRESTLING: TOWANDA GOES 4-1 AT FLYNN DUALS, FALLS TO MONTOURSVILLE IN FINAL (2022-01-08)

TOWANDA — Towanda went 4-1 at their annual Flynn Duals on Saturday, as they saw four different wrestlers go undefeated on the day.

The Knights beat NP-Liberty (42-27), Western Wayne (55-15) and West Scranton (46-21) to win their pool. In the semifinals they defeated Port Allegany (42-21) before losing to District IV powers Montoursville (46-15) in the finals.

Jace Gunther, Wyatt Stranger, and Riley Vanderpool all went 5-0 on the day, with Hayden Space going 3-0.

Rylee Sluyter finished the day 4-1, as Spencer Jennings went 2-1 and Aiden Miller finishing 1-1. Sawyer Robinson, Mason Higley, Bryant Green, and Shane Atwood all finished 3-2.

Jared Gunther went 2-3, with Tim Parker going 1-4.

In their opening match against the Mounties Robinson (145), and Space (126) both had falls, with Jace Gunther (152), Jared Gunther (285), Sluyter (132) and Vanderpool (138) all scoring forfeits.

Higley (160) earned a 3-2 win over Easton Pequignot, while Stranger (106) defeated Brayden Pequignot 7-2.

Against Western Wayne Towanda got falls from Green (172), Atwood (120), Space (126), Vanderpool (138), Robinson (145), and Jace Gunther (152), with Jennings (189) getting a forfeit. Stranger (106) and Sluyter (132) both had technical falls, while Higley got an 11-7 decision over Nicolas Arcadipane.

In the West Scranton match Parker (215), Sluyter (132), and Vanderpool (138) had falls, as Green (172), Jennings (189), and Stranger (113) all scored forfeits.

Higley (160 had a major decision, as Space (126) won 4-2 over Aiden Kologe, and Jace Gunther (152) defeated Mason Bennett 6-0.

In the semifinals Atwood (120), Vanderpool (138), Robinson (145), and Green (172) all had falls, while Sluyter (132) recorded his second technical fall of the day.

Stranger (106)had a major decision victory, as Jared Gunther (285) won 6-3 over Carson Neely, and Aiden Miller (189) defeated Logan Hurlburt 9-5.

In the final Jace Gunther (152) scored a fall, with Stranger (106) getting a forfeit. Vanderpool (138) earned a 7-4 win over Blaize Vogel for their other victory in the match.

Towanda stays at home, hosting NEB on Tuesday, and Warrior Run on Thursday.
