NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: BENNETT LEADS TOWANDA PAST WELLSBORO (2022-01-12)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Porschia Bennett had a season high 24 points as Towanda rolled past Wellsboro 60-35 in NTL Division-II girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
Bennett also had seven boards, and five steals, while Paige Manchester added 15 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and four assists.
A total of eight different Knights scored, with Gracie Schoonover getting eight points, seven rebounds, and three blocks, as Destiny Brennan, Eliza Fowler, and Bella Hurley had three points a piece. Fowler added five steals, as Hurley grabbed four boards.
Aziza Ismailova and Athena Chacona chipped in with two points each.
It was tight after the first quarter, with Towanda holding a 12-8 lead behind six points from Bennett.
They extended their lead to nine points at the half, 26-17, as Manchester got hot - nailing two 3-balls - to finish with eight points in the frame.
Then, in the third, Towanda pulled away, out scoring the Hornets 24-9 behind a 14-point effort from Bennett in the quarter.
The Lady Knights continue their west road trip as they travel to NP-Liberty on Thursday.
