ON TAP TODAY: A COUPLE BIG HOOPS GAMES AND A WRESTLING MATCH HIGHLIGHT TONIGHT'S ACTION (2022-01-21)

A big day for hoops and on the wrestling mat to close out the work week.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Troy (9-1) at Canton (9-3), 7:30 p.m.: Both teams come in with long win streaks - Canton’s at 7, Troy’s at 4. The Trojans will look to tighten their grip on the NTL Division-I standings with a win over the Warriors, while a win against the Trojans would help Canton in their bid for an NTL Division-II title.

Athens (9-3) at Wyalusing (9-5), 7:30 p.m.: A big game for the Rams, as a win here would effectively wipe-out their loss to Canton, as the Warriors fell to Athens back in December. The Wildcats are coming off a win over Williamson, but lost to Wellsboro before that, and can ill afford another loss in their battle for the NTL Division-I title.

NP-Mansfield (8-2) at NEB (3-9), 7:30 p.m.: The Panthers are coming off a hard fought 1-point win over Sayre, and welcome the Tigers, who haven’t played a game in a week. NPM last pulled out an overtime win against Towanda.

Towanda (3-10) at CV (5-8), 7:30 p.m.: The Knights had another tough loss to Wellsboro as they hit the long road to Westfield. CV has lost two straight as they try and hang on to that last playoff spot in Class AA for District IV.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Towanda (7-3) at Montoursville (2-9), 7:30 p.m.: The Knights are coming off a hard fought win over Troy to stay undefeated in the NTL, as they head down south for a non-league contest. The Warriors opened the year 2-2, but have lost seven straight since.

WRESTLING

Wyalusing (11-4) at Athens (6-2), 7 p.m.: A make-up from earlier in the week, this is one of the more high profile matches in the NTL season. Both teams will be looking to get a home match for district duals in two weeks, and will likely need a win here to do it.
