ON TAP TODAY: TOWANDA-ATHENS WRESTLING HIGHLIGHTS TODAY'S EVENTS (2022-01-26)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The final big league wrestling match of the season, while Canton grapplers will look to clinch their league title.

WRESTLING

Towanda (15-4) at Athens (7-2), 7 p.m.: While league implications will be minimal, this is a huge match in terms of district duals seeding. The two teams are two spots apart - Towanda fifth, Athens seventh - in the district standings, and the winner will likely end up with the higher seed.

Canton (11-2) at NPL (5-7), 7 p.m.: The Warriors will clinch their third straight league title with a win, while the Mounties will need a win here to keep their district duals chances alive. Canton is coming off the Bison Duals where they went 3-2.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Towanda (10-3) at Canton (8-6), 7:30 p.m.: A win by the Knights secures them a playoff berth, while the Warriors, themselves, are inching closer to the playoffs with each victory. Towanda remains unbeaten in the NTL, as they’re riding a 7-game win streak into the contest.

Troy (8-3) at Sayre (0-8), 6 p.m.: The Trojans will look to keep pace with the Knights in the NTL Division-I standings as they travel to the valley. The Lady ‘Skins are looking for their first win of the season, coming off a loss to NEB.

Wyalusing (4-9) at CV (1-10), 7:30 p.m.: The Rams are coming off another tough loss, this time to Wellsboro, but will look to get back on track against the Indians, who are on a 2-game losing streak.

Wellsboro (6-6) at NEB (11-2), 7:30 p.m.: The Panthers qualified for districts with their win over Sayre, and will look to keep their 8-game win streak going as they host the Hornets. Wellsboro is coming off a win over Wyalusing on Monday.
