ON TAP TODAY: A COUPLE BIG HOOPS GAMES AS AREA WRESTLERS HEAD TO WEST BRANCH (2022-01-28)

A lighter Friday, but there are a few big hoops games on the docket.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

NEB (12-2) at Troy (9-3), 7:30 p.m.: The biggest game of the night, as both teams come in with just one league loss. The Panthers come in riding a 9-game win streak stretching all the way back before Christmas, while Troy has bounced back from their loss to Towanda with two straight victories.

Canton (8-7) at Wyalusing (5-9), 6 p.m.: A varsity only contest, the Warriors will be looking to hold on their playoff spot for districts, along with finishing second in the division to make the NTL Showdown. The Rams still have time to make a playoff push, but need to string some wins together.

WRESTLING

Towanda, Canton at Ultimate Warrior: The West Branch Tournament features some of the top programs in the state as a select few from each team will compete in the final regular season tournament of the year. Athens will also be in attendance.

SWIMMING & DIVING

Towanda at Tunkhannock invitational: The first of a 2-day invitational for the Knights. They’ll look to drop their times as they get ready for districts in a few weeks.
