NTL BASEBALL: TROY FALLS TO CV (2022-05-11)

EAST TROY — Troy fell to Cowanesque Valley 6-3 during NTL baseball action on Wednesday.

The Trojans led 2-1 after the second inning, but the Indians would score five unanswered to take a 6-2 lead. Troy rallied in the seventh, and got one run across, with the tying run on first, but couldn’t get anymore.


Lincoln Chimics (2-for-3) had a run scored, as Justice Chimics (1-for-2), and Joseph Frye (1-for-3) also crossed home, while Clayton Smith (1-for-4) had a hit. Justice Chimics’ hit was a double.


Camden Allen took the loss for Troy, going  5 2/3-innings with nine hits, six runs, and four walks, while striking out three. Justice Chimics went the final 1 1/3-innings with one walk, one hit, and two strikeouts.


After CV scored in the top of the first, Troy answered in the bottom half with Justice Chimics leading things off with a double. He later scored on an error off the bat of Kory Schucker to knot things up.


In the second, Lincoln Chimics had a 1-out single, took second on an error, and then scored on a balk to put the Trojans up 2-1.


CV would got on to score two in the third, one in the fourth, and two more in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead.


In the seventh, after the Indians took care of the first two batters, Frye hit a single to keep Troy alive. That was followed by three straight walks, which scored Frye, and instituted a pitching change by CV.


That worked as the Indians got a fly out to end the game.


Troy will travel to Canton on Thursday.
