NTL BASEBALL: NEB FALLS TO SAYRE (2022-05-12)

Northern Tier Sports Report
ROME — NEB baseball fell to Sayre, 18-1, during NTL action on Thursday.

Sayre scored two runs in the first, three in the second, then exploded for 13 in the third. NEB’s run came in the bottom of the third.


Dylan Donnelly (1-for-2) had the Panther hit, while Ethan Hunsinger scored the run.


Jack Shumway started, and went the first two innings to take the loss. He allowed six hits, and five runs, two of which were earned.


Garrett Cooper then came in to start the third, but didn’t record an out, allowing one walk, three hits, and six runs, five of which were earned.


Joe Stanton followed, but he didn’t record an out, either. He allowed four walks, one hit, and four earned runs.


Cody Russell then closed out the inning, striking out one with one walk, two hits, and three runs, two of which were earned.


In the bottom of the third, Caleb Dughi got NEB going after getting hit by a pitch. A second out was made, but Donnelly kept it going with a single, followed by Riley Welch loading the bases when he got hit by a pitch.


Cooper then drew a walk to bring in Hunsinger, who was running for Dughi.


NEB will host their tournament on Saturday, with games beginning at 9 a.m. and running throughout the day. The Panthers play at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
