NTL TRACK & FIELD: BENNETT, MOSIER GET WINS AT NTLS (2022-05-14)

ATHENS — Despite being outmanned, the Towanda girls’ track and field team made a run at the NTL Championships Friday, finishing third with 111.5 points.

Athens (159) was first, followed by Wyalusing (117).


They were led by Porschia Bennett’s high jump in 5-feet, 4-inches. She also took second in the long jump at 15-feet, 10 1/2-inches, third in the 400 in 1:04.18, and fifth in the 200 in 27.68 - making for a busier than usual day.


“I think the whole team did really well,” said Bennett. “We all pushed are hardest. I’ll always do what I can to help the team, even if I don’t like it.”


She’ll just have on event to focus on at districts, and that’s winning another high jump crown, though she hasn’t been as consistent this year.


“It’s a lot more pressure, and I think it’s definitely getting to me,” said Bennett. “But once I get past that everything will be fine.”


Eliza Fowler was second in the 300 hurdles at 51.31, while Kelci Carle (52.63) came in fourth. Carle (17.52) was fourth in the 100 hurdles, while Fowler (17.80) came in sixth. Fowler also took sixth in the high jump at 4-feet, 4-inches.


Anna Dunn was second in the 400 in 1:00.95, third in the 200 in 27.26, and third in the 100 in 13.06. Teammate Kelsea Allen-Smith was fifth in the 100 at 13.39, sixth in the 200 in 28.50, and eighth in the 400 in 1:05.04.


The 4x400 relay was third in 4:32.87, while the 4x800 relay came in fourth in 13:21.12.


Hannah Ryck was fourth in the triple jump at 32-feet, 1 1/4-inches, followed by Fowler (31-feet, 8 1/4-inches) in fifth.


Hannah Risch (83-feet, 10-inches) third in the discus, as Lexi Lamphere (6-feet, 6-inches) was fifth in the pole vault, followed by Sidney Bride (6-feet).


On the boys’ side Mitchell Mosier won the pole vault at 12-feet, 6-inches, while taking seventh in the high jump at 5-feet, 4-inches.


“The wind messed with me a little bit, but I fought through it,” said Mosier. “I still had a really good turnout. Not quite as good as I hoping.”


Mosier was also eighth in the 100 at 11.72.


Logan Lambert (41-feet, 5-inches) took fifth in the triple jump, and seventh in the 110 hurdles at 17.91, Justin Schoonover (56.03) was fourth in the 400, and Eric McGee (11:17.82) came in fourth in the 3200.


Dan Storrs (46.67) was fourth in the 300 hurdles, while the 4x100 relay team (48.93) and the 4x400 relay team (4:00.71) were both seventh.


Bryant Green (133-feet, 5-inches) took fourth in the javelin.


The Towanda boys (44.5) were eighth in the team standings.
