ATHENS — Despite being outmanned, the Towanda girls’ track and field team made a run at the NTL Championships Friday, finishing third with 111.5 points.

They were led by Porschia Bennett’s high jump in 5-feet, 4-inches. She also took second in the long jump at 15-feet, 10 1/2-inches, third in the 400 in 1:04.18, and fifth in the 200 in 27.68 - making for a busier than usual day.

“I think the whole team did really well,” said Bennett. “We all pushed are hardest. I’ll always do what I can to help the team, even if I don’t like it.”

She’ll just have on event to focus on at districts, and that’s winning another high jump crown, though she hasn’t been as consistent this year.

“It’s a lot more pressure, and I think it’s definitely getting to me,” said Bennett. “But once I get past that everything will be fine.”

Eliza Fowler was second in the 300 hurdles at 51.31, while Kelci Carle (52.63) came in fourth. Carle (17.52) was fourth in the 100 hurdles, while Fowler (17.80) came in sixth. Fowler also took sixth in the high jump at 4-feet, 4-inches.

“The wind messed with me a little bit, but I fought through it,” said Mosier. “I still had a really good turnout. Not quite as good as I hoping.”

Mosier was also eighth in the 100 at 11.72.
