TOWANDA DUO HELP LIGHTNING TAKE 2ND AT CAPE MAY TOURNAMENT (2022-06-27)

The Lackawanna Lightning went 4-1 at the Cape May 9 of Diamonds 18U Tournament over the weekend, falling in the title game 5-1 to the South Jersey Thunder.

They beat the Phillies 10-1, the Lasers 10-0, the Genesis 6-4, and then the Phillies again in the semifinals 14-2.

Towanda's Shay Greenland had 15 strikeouts, with 11 ground ball outs, nine pop outs, and two walks. She pitched the second and third games on Saturday - all but the last inning - and then the championship game on Sunday.

At the plate she had two hits, with one walk.

Towanda's Brynn Woodruff had 14 put outs in the field, while getting six hits, including four doubles and two singles.
