LITTLE LEAGUE: TOWANDA'S ALL-STAR RUN ENDS WITH LOSS TO WELLSBORO (2022-07-10)

Northern Tier Sports Report
TOWANDA — It was a tough loss for Towanda Majors baseball all-stars, as they fell to Wellsboro 8-4 in the consolation bracket finale on Sunday.

Towanda finishes the season in third out of all of District 15.

Wellsboro took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Towanda struck back in the second with four runs for a 3-run advantage.

Wellsboro would keep them scoreless the final four innings, though, while slowly chipping into the lead. In the third they scored two runs to cut it to 4-3, then added two more runs in the fourth to go up 5-4.

A run in the fifth made it 6-4, while they put on two more insurance runs in the sixth for the 4-run win.

Boom Thompson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored for Towanda, while Gage Evans was 2-for-3 with a double.

Shane Maghamez and Harper Welles both went 1-for-2, with Welles also scoring a run. Josh Maye also had a hit with a run scored, while Brad Asstante-Dicupillo crossed home, as well.

Thompson started and went most of the game on the mound, while Welles came on in the sixth. They combined for eight strikeouts.
