VALLEY STORM GO 2-2 AT USSSA STATES TOURNAMENT (2022-07-12)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The Valley Storm 18U Maynard team went 2-2 at the 2022 USSSA States Tournament over the weekend.

They won their first game 8-6 over the Mountain Hawks, then picked up a big 10-1 victory over Langhorne Lightning. In the final game Saturday they lost 10-4 to Impact Panthers Gold, then in bracket play Sunday they fell to the Patriots Premier 3-2.


Against the Mountain Hawks the Valley Storm were down 6-5 going into the bottom of the fifth when they scored three runs to pull ahead, and ultimately get the win.


Maddie Maynard went 2-for-3 with a double and 2-RBI, Harley Sullivan was 2-for-3 with a double, 2-RBI, and two runs scored, and Brea Overpeck went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.


Emma Repsher was 1-for-3 with a double, 2-RBI, and a run scored, as Madi Palmer went 1-for-3 with a run scored, and an RBI. Keri Wesneski went 1-for-3 with a run scored, and Jenelle Johns also went 1-for-3, while Amber James scored a run.


Aramie Arroyo struck out five in the win, allowing seven walks, four hits, and six runs, five of which were earned.


Against the Langhorne Lightning the Valley Storm set the tone by scoring six runs in the top of the first.


Wesneski went 2-for-3 with a double, 2-RBI, and a run scored, while Maynard was 1-for-2 with a double, 2-RBI, and two runs scored.


Sullivan was 1-for-1 with two runs scored, and an RBI, while Palmer went 1-for-1 with a run scored, and an RBI. Overpeck was 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Repsher knocked in two runs while scoring once herself. 


James and Aubrey Ennis each scored a run while driving one in.


Maynard got the win, striking out two with three walks, five hits, and on unearned run.


In the loss to Impact Panthers Gold they spotted their opponents a 6-0 lead after two innings and couldn’t recover.


Overpeck went 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored, while Sullivan went 2-for-3 with a double, and 3-RBI.


James was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Jones and Palmer both went 1-for-2 and a run. Maynard also went 1-for-2.


Wesneski went the first three innings, allowing 10 hits, two walks, and nine runs, six of which were earned. Arroyo went the final inning, striking out three with two hits, and one earned run.


In their loss to the Patriots Premier, they once again found themselves down, this time 3-0 after two innings. They would score two runs in the top of the fifth, but couldn’t get the tying run.


James went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI, while Arroyo was 1-for-2 with a double, and a run scored.


Sullivan (1-for-4), Johns (1-for-3), and Palmer (1-for-3) also had hits, while Repsher knocked in a run.


Wesneski went an inning and a third, allowing five hits, and three runs, two of which were earned. Arroyo went the next 4 2/3-innings, with four strikeouts, and one hit.
