NTL CROSS-COUNTRY: TOWANDA BOYS USE TIGHT PACK TO TOP ATHENS (2022-09-27)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — The Towanda boys’ cross-country team packed five in the top seven as they beat Athens 22-37 in NTL action Tuesday.
The girls fell 21-34 to the Black Knights.
Athens’ Ethan Denlinger (19:08) edged out Towanda’s Eric McGee (19:09) for first place, with Knights Nate Spencer (19:29) and Luke Tavani (19:31) taking third and fourth.
Rounding out their top five are Jack Tavani (20:01) and Jacob Carr (20:16) in sixth and seventh.
The Wildcats went 1-2-3 on the girls’ side, led by Thea Bentley (24:16) in first place.
Towanda’s Marisa Wise (24:53) was fourth overall to lead the Knights, while Madison Nonnemacher (25:49) and Taylor Brennan (27:25) were fifth and sixth.
Noelle Rogers (29:29) took ninth, as Gracie Carter (29:46) took 10th to round out their scorers.
In junior high action Towanda girls won 15-50 while the Athens boys won 15-41.
Towanda’s MaryKate Eberlin (12:02) was the top girl, while Jackson Frederick (12:31) was the top Knight on the boys’ side in sixth place.
