AOW: WYALUSING'S SALSMAN, CANTON'S WILLIAMS POST STRONG WEEKS (2022-10-02)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Another week, another string of strong performances by area athletes.

On the boys’ side Wyalusing’s Nick Salsman finished one stroke out of the playoff to qualify regionals. His 83 on the second day of the tournament was tied for fourth best in the field. Overall, his eighth place finish at the District Championships makes him the Male Athlete of the Week.


Canton fended off two tough challenges this week to remain undefeated in NTL Small School varsity play. For the week Aislyn Williams had 22 points, 24 kills, 31 digs, five aces, four assists, and five blocks, good enough to make her the Female Athlete of the Week.


Notables: Canton’s Riley Parker* had 121 yards rushing and three touchdowns in a win…Troy’s Evan Woodward* threw for two touchdowns and ran for one in a win over Wellsboro…NEB’s Cesar Alvarez had three goals this week…NEB’s Creed Dewing* finished in the top 10 at McQuaid…Wyalusing’s Brody Fuhrey* finished ninth at the District Golf Championships…Towanda’s Paige Perry* makes the cut at the District Golf Championships…NEB’s Kayleigh Thoman has a hat trick in win over Wyalusing…Troy’s Caelyn Pine leads the defense in their shutout win over NEB…Towanda’s Paige Manchester had 30 points, 39 kills, 11 blocks, and 41 digs over three matches for the Knights…Troy’s Meredith Cole had 26 kills, 8 assists, and 14 digs as the Trojans went 1-1 this week…NEB’s Emma Neuber had 35 kills, and 17 digs this week for the Panthers…NEB’s Gracelyn Laudermilch* and Anaiah Kolesar both finished in the top 20 at McQuaid
