NTL BOYS SOCCER: TOWANDA IMPROVED AS 2022 SEASON PROGRESSED (2022-11-14)

Northern Tier Sports Report
It was a tough season for Towanda, as it went 3-15 on the year, but the Black Knights were a much better team at the end of the season, than they were at the start.

They opened the year on a 10-match losing streak, but did have close games against NEB (5-2) and Montgomery (2-1) during that stretch.

They would get a 5-3 win over Troy, and two matches later lost a tough 6-4 match to North Penn-Liberty.

The highlight of the season was a 3-2 victory at NEB, while they ended the season with a 1-0 win over Troy to get the series sweep.

They did have two all-stars in Connor Barnes and Jack Wheaton, while Talen Irish proved to be a strong goal-scorer in the second half of the season.

Logan Lambert caused some problems up front, and keeper Michael West had an under-the-radar season keeping the Knights in games.

They say good-bye to five seniors — Irish, Lambert, West, Aidan Hennessy, and Dominic Esposito —and will have to fill those holes going forward.

However, they return 14 players, including Barnes and Wheaton, to try and build for next year’s team.
