NTL WRESTLING: NEB FALLS LATE TO BLUE RIDGE (2023-01-19)
Northern Tier Sports ReportBLUE RIDGE — Northeast Bradford lost a close dual to Blue Ridge, 36-28, during non-league wrestling action Thursday.
Blue Ridge had edge in wins 6-5, with all six of theirs either forfeits or falls. Connor Eastabrook (189) had the Panthers’ lone pin with Ben Ellis (215), Kamden Ricci (285), and Kolton Keir (114) each getting a forfeit.
Mason Alexander (107) scored a major decision.
Blue Ridge took the first four matches, beginning at 139 as Jackson Maby pinned NEB’s Nation Evans in 1:35. After Nathan Oropallo got a forfeit at 145, Kaleb Shimer (152) pinned Lucas Lambert in 1:00.
At 160 Samuel Callahan scored a 58 second fall over Camron Rinebold to put Blue Ridge up 24-0.
After a double forfeit at 172 Eastabrook pinned Torin Fissell in 3:35 to put the Panthers on the scoreboard. Back to back forfeits from Ellis and Ricci cut it to 24-18.
Alexander would notch an 11-3 major over Brice Woodruff, followed by Keir’s forfeit to give NEB a 28-24 lead.
There was a double forfeit at 121, with Blue Ridge winning the final two matches to get the win. Memphis Collins (127) pinned Hunter Comstock in 3:01, while Kameron Sheffer (133) pinned Russell Martin in 1:57.
NEB will host Sayre on Saturday.
