NTL WRESTLING: TOWANDA'S HIGLEY REACHES THE SEMIFINALS AT ULTIMATE WARRIOR (2023-01-28)

WEST BRANCH — Towanda’s Mason Higley was still alive in the semifinals after the first day of the Ultimate Warrior Wrestling Tournament Friday.

The Knights had five still alive overall.

Higley (172) won his first bout by fall, took the next 11-5, then won the third 8-0 to reach the final four.

Riley Vanderpool (139), Rylee Sluyter (133), Sawyer Robinson (189), and Wyatt Stranger (114) were all still alive in the consolations.

Vanderpool won his first two bouts by fall, but then fell 9-3 in the quarterfinals. Sluyter won his first matches, taking the initial one 7-0, and then the second 10-1. He lost with an 18-3 tech fall in the quarterfinals.

Robinson won his first match with an 8-1 decision, but then fell 13-3 in the next round. Stranger opened with a loss by fall, but then won his next two 9-2 and 5-4 to stay alive.

Also for the Knights Audy Vanderpool (285) went 2-2, as Hayden Space (121), Aiden Miller (152), Jace Gunther (160) and Chase Geurin (145) all finished 1-2.

Wrestling will finish up on Saturday.
