SULLIVAN COUNTY HITS 9 3-BALLS IN WIN OVER MILLVILLE (2023-01-31)

LAPORTE — Sullivan County used a strong third quarter to pull away from Millville, 59-42, during Mid-Penn boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Griffins out scored the Quakers 20-10 to build a comfortable margin en route to the win.


Maddox Bahr had 18 points - including four 3-balls - to lead Sullivan, while Ben Carpenter had 13 points. 


Riley King chipped in with 11 points and three steals, as Trey Higley added seven points and seven boards. Derrick Finnegan netted six points, and Conner Smithkors came away with four points.


Tommy Kraintz led Millville with 14 points.


The Griffins led just 10-8 after the first quarter behind five points from Carpenter. They got some breathing room in the second, out pointing the Quakers 16-8, as Carpenter and Bahr both had four points, while Finnegan and King each had 3-balls.


Then in the third five different Sullivan players scored, led by eight from King, who had eight. Bahr then brought it home for the Griffins with an 8-point fourth quarter.


Sullivan had nine 3-pointers on the day.


The Griffins won the JV game 23-21 behind seven points from Tucker Blasi.


Sullivan (12-7) has a big match-up at Northwest on Friday.
