NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: MANCHESTER LEADS TOWANDA PAST WELLSBORO (2023-02-02)

WELLSBORO — Towanda picked up a 48-34 road win at Wellsboro to stay undefeated in NTL girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

The Knights jumped out to a 15-5 lead and never looked back in the win.

Paige Manchester had 25 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double to go with two steals and two blocks, while Gracie Schoonover added 10 points, seven boards, and four blocks.

Brynn Woodruff had five points and four boards, while Alonna Ayres, Eliza Fowler, Melody Hakes, and Bella Hurley had two points each. 

Chloe Brandenburg led Wellsboro with 15 points.

Manchester had 11 of her teams 15 first quarter points as they took the 10 point lead. The Knights went on to out score Wellsboro 15-12 in the second behind six from Manchester and three out of Woodruff to take a 30-17 lead at the half.

Towanda added to their lead in the third as Manchester had six points and Schoonover four to go up 42-27. In the fourth they held the Hornets to seven points to secure the win.

Towanda (13-4) will host Wyalusing on Friday.
