NTL GOLF: TOWANDA'S PERRY TO PLAY FOR MISERICORDIA (2023-03-14)

TOWANDA — Towanda’s Paige Perry started golf just a couple years ago, but now it’s taken her to Misericordia University, where she’s planning on playing next season.

“I’m excited,” Perry said. “I had a lot of fun during the regular season the past two years, and I am really excited to further my career.”

Golf coach Paul Lantz noticed she didn’t play a fall sport, and asked her to come out to golf.

“I was just trying something new, and was decent at it,” explained Perry.

It culminated with Perry making the cut at the District IV Championships this past fall.

That led her on a search for a place to play after she graduated.

“I had a couple of schools I was looking at,” Perry said. “I got a Division-II scholarship to go play at Seton Hill, but Misericordia just felt so homey, and it their atmosphere was amazing.”

She said everybody was very welcoming towards her.

Perry will have a full warm weather season before golf starts up next fall - in college they do half the season in the fall, and half in the spring - and hopes to fine tune her game before going off to school.

“I’m really working on driving and putting before I head down,” said Perry.

One thing she’s definitely looking forward to is the double season.

“I’m really excited,” remarked Perry. “I wish we had spring golf here.”

She’ll be studying sports management Pre-DPT.
