NTL WRESTLING: TROY HAS STRONG SEASON WITH NEW COACHING STAFF (2023-03-19)
BY CHRIS MANNINGNorthern Tier Sports ReportIt was a changing of the guard for Troy wrestlers as they had a new coaching staff, and saw some success on the mat.
They went 7-8 on the season, just missing district duals, but did get a big early season win over Athens (36-25), and a close win over Jersey Shore.
They also had strong performances at the DKI, with four medalists, and Tunkhannockâs Frank Wades Memorial, with nine medalists, and three champions.
Individually they saw Mason Woodward (215, 32-11) reach regionals and come up just short of states.
Konner Kerr (114, 22-15) was also a regional qualifier, while Kenyon Slater (23-12), Jacob Hinman (152, 19-9), and Kael Millard (189, 15-16) all earned district berths.
While the Trojans lose seven seniors, including Woodward, they return four of their five district qualifiers, and eight of their 13 starters
That should set them up for a solid season in 2023-2024.
