Towanda boys’ basketball took another step on the hard courts this year, earning their first playoff berth since the mid-2010’s.

It was a season of runs for Towanda, who went 11-11 on the year. They opened with a 4-game win streak, including close victories over Sayre (45-40) and Canton (59-53).

That was followed by a 5-game losing streak where they fell to 4-5.

Towanda would rebound with a 3-game win streak, including a 49-46 win over Sullivan County, eventually District IV, Class A champions.

The Knights hit another lull, going 1-5 over their next six, including a thrilling 60-58 loss to rivals Wyalusing at home.

However, they would finish strong, winning three of their final four games, to get the sixth seed.

The Knights would face Troy for the third team in districts, falling 71-47.

It was a group effort for Towanda, as Teagan Irish (11.5 PPG) led the way. Right behind him were sharpshooter Logan Lambert (8.5 PPG), point guard Elias Shrawder (7.5 PPG), and forward Justin Schoonover (6.9 PPG).

This group of seniors - Shrawder, Lambert, Schoonover, and Grady Flynn (6.1 PPG) - have been key in their resurgence this season.

Despite losing four of their five starters Towanda had a deep bench. Alongside Irish they return Jack Wheaton, Jack Tavani, and Bayley Poll amongst others.
