THE WEEK AHEAD: SPRING SPORTS SLATED TO START THIS WEEK (2023-03-19)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Area spring sports teams are going to give it a go this week with softball, baseball and boys’ tennis slated to start. The warmth will be there but it could get a little wet at the end of the week.

SOFTBALL

Wednesday, March 22

Montrose at NEB, 4:30 p.m.: The Panthers will look to start the season with a home contest against the Meteors. NEB are the defending NTL Division-II champions.


Friday, March 24

Towanda at Williamson, 4:30 p.m.: The Knights will hit the road for their league opener in a cross-over game against the Warriors. Towanda won this contest last year.


Wellsboro at Canton, 4:30 p.m.: The season and home opener for the Warriors as they welcome the always tough Hornets.


Wyalusing at Sayre, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams hit the road for their season opener as they travel to Sayre. They’ve beaten the Redskins the beginning of the last two years.


Saturday, March 25

Wyalusing at Central Columbia, 1 p.m.: The Rams’ home opener is non-league contest against district powers Central Columbia.


BASEBALL

Friday, March 24

Towanda at Williamson, 4:30 p.m.: The Knights’ season opener, a game that they won last year.


Wellsboro at Canton, 4:30 p.m.: A big first contest for the Warriors as its a big league game for both teams.


BOYS’ TENNIS

Friday, March 24

CV at Towanda, 4 p.m.: The Black Knights’ first match of the year against the always tough Indians.
