ON TAP TODAY: FIRST DAY OF DISTRICT TRACK TODAY (2023-05-18)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The first day of District IV track and field highlights today’s action.

TRACK & FIELD

District IV Championships at Williamsport, 4 p.m.: Half the field events along with the 4x800 finals will be today. Class AA will hold preliminaries for the 100 and 110/100H, while all classes will have the semifinals. Troy’s Colin Loveland is the top seed for the boy’s long jump, with Wyalusing’s Hannah Ely the third seed for the girls’ long jump.

SOFTBALL

Towanda (9-9) at Sullivan Count (9-8), 4:30 p.m.: The final regular season game for either team. The Knights need to win to get into the district playoffs, while the Griffins are already in for Class A.

Montgomery (11-8) at Canton (11-7), 4:30 p.m.: The Warriors host the defending state champions, and likely district playoff match-up. Canton has a lead in the standings on the Red Raiders with two games left.

Wyalusing (13-6) at Tunkhannock, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams’ regular season finale as they take on a state power Tunkhannock. They currently hold the fourth seed in the district standings, and a win here would solidify that spot for them.

Williamson (8-10) at NEB (12-6), 4:30 p.m.: The Panthers are coming off a tough loss to South Williamsport, and have slipped to sixth in the district standings. This will be their regular season finale.
