NTL TRACK & FIELD: TROY HAS SEVERAL MEDALISTS DURING THE SECOND DAY OF DISTRICTS (2023-05-21)

WILLIAMSPORT — Troy had several athletes bring home medals, and a few make a run at a state berth, but they ultimately came up short of getting a state qualifier.

“I was really pleased with how everyone performed today,” said Troy coach Matt Geer. “Overall, it was a good ending to a great season for a lot of the team.”

Alyssa Parks brought home two district medals, taking fourth in the high jump at 5-feet even, while finishing seventh in the 300 hurdles in 48.65. She was also 11th in the pole vault at 9-feet.

“The day started off great watching Alyssa Parks run between high jump and pole vault was entertaining. Alyssa PR’d in both, and when we realized she had tied for second in the high jump there was a brief moment where we wondered if she had made states before we saw who had the most misses.”

Also for the girls Caelyn Pine was 14th in the 200 in 27.60, Katie Lackey was 18th in the 800 in 2:35.11 and 21st in the 1600 in 6:03.01. Madelyn Seeley took 23rd in the javelin in 85-feet, 6-inches.

Their 4x400 was ninth in 4:19.93, while their 4x100 took 15th in 54.10.

They had some close calls with the boys, too, as Colin Loveland was fourth in the triple jump at 41-feet, 10 1/4-inches while Jacob Hinman took sixth in the 400 in 52.10.

Blake Shedden also brought home a medal in the 110 hurdles, taking eighth in 16.25. He was 18th in the high jump at 5-feet, 5-inches, and 19th in the 300 hurdles in 44.83.

“It was great to see Blake and Jake medal, as well,” said Geer. “Blake has been a great leader on the team, and I was happy to see him finish his career with a medal. Jake has a lot of potential in many events, and I can’t wait to see what he does next year.”

Hart Houseknecht was 12th in the 3200 in 10:33.87, and 19th in the 1600 in 4:57.71. Evan Geer was 16th in the 1600 in 4:56.12, while Brody Campbell was 20th in the 3200 at 11:00.70, and 24th in the 1600 in 5:07.96.

“I was also excited to see Hart drop his PR in the 2-mile by 10-plus seconds,” Geer said. “The trio of him, Evan, and Brody, over the next two years, is going to be fun to see who they develop and improve.”

Ben Warburton was 16th in the 200 in 23.83 while Mason Wulff was 23rd in the 400 in 55.23.

Their 4x100 relay was 11th in 46.07, while their 4x400 was 13th in 3:42.19.
