WILLIAMSPORT — Canton’s Kyle Kapichok dominated the discus during the District IV Track and Field Championships on Saturday. The senior won the event at 148-feet, 10-inches, 12-feet more than the runner-up.

“It’s amazing,” Kapichok said about being a district champ. “I’m kind of at a loss for words right now, I’ve been working for this my whole life.”

Kapichok, who came in as the top seed, started off with a decent throw of 141-feet, 6-inches, but it was his second throw of 148-feet, 10-inches where he put everything together.

“There was a little pressure there at the beginning,” he said. “That was OK. Then I threw the 148, and I was so relieved and happy. Everything connected, it felt like. Everything just came off smooth and I spun good - it worked out.”

He had a 146-foot throw in the finals but would like to get back into the 150’s for states.

“For a while there I had that PR for the school record, and then it went back down to 130,” explained Kapichok. “I was kind of bummed out, and I’ve got it back up now.”

William Colton (119-feet, 6-inches) took 12th in the discus as Anthony Asbury (119-feet, 4-inches) was 13th. Lawrence Halbfoerster (10:49.96) came in 16th in the 2-mile.

The girls’ team came away with a slew of medals, but just missed state marks in several areas.

Kendall Kitchen was fourth in the pole vault at 10-feet even, tying the school record. She was also eighth in the 200 in 27.15.

Daveian Crowley was fourth in the 100 (12.81), fourth in the 200 (26.42), and fifth in the 400 (1:01.42).

Camille McRoberts was seventh in the 1600 in 5:31.16, and took eighth in the 800 in 2:27.30. Alexis McRoberts was 13th in the 300 hurdles in 51.37.

The 4x400 was seventh at 4:15.43, while the 4x100 relay took 16th in 54.47.
