AOW: WYALUSING'S MAPES, NEB'S STANTON, TOWANDA'S OVERPECK POST EXCELLENT WEEKS (2023-05-28)

Northern Tier Sports Report
It was quite a week for area athletes with no short of thrills from state track to district games on the diamond.

On the boys’ side there is the rare Co-Male Athlete of the Week, but it’s pretty uncommon to have two teams win their program’s first district titles.

For NEB Joe Stanton scored both of their runs, reaching base on two of his three plate appearances. He went 1-for-2 with a walk in the low scoring game.

Wyalusing’s Kenny Mapes had quite the week at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and 4-RBI in the win over South Williamsport, and scoring two runs in a 4-2 win over Canton.

On the girls’ side Towanda’s Brea Overpeck went 2-for-3 with 5-RBI and two home runs in their thrilling upset win over Loyalsock, and then had a hit with 2-RBI in their loss to Warrior Run to be the Female Athlete of the Week.
