LITTLE LEAGUE: PUTNAM GETS WALK-OFF HIT AS TROY RALLIES PAST WELLSBORO (2023-07-09)

WELLSBORO — Troy ran their win streak to five as they rallied for a walk-off win over Wellsboro, 5-4, during District 15 Majors baseball All-star elimination bracket action Sunday.

Troy was down 4-1 after the top of the fourth, but then cut it to 4-3 with a 2-run bottom fourth. They tied it up with a run in the fifth.

In the sixth Wellsboro got the first two outs but Lucas Kress singled, then took third in a Zack Blasz double. That set up Blake Putnam’s game winning single that scored Kress.

Wellsboro takes third on the year as Troy will move on to face Athens in Athens on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. start. Troy will need to beat Athens twice in order to claim the district title.

Brody Ayres (2-for-3), Caiden Estep (2-for-3), Lucas Kress (2-for-2), and Blasz (2-for-3) all had multiple hits on the day, with Blaine Fish (1-for-3) and Putnam (1-for-3) also getting hits.

Josiah Pesesky scored twice, as Oakley Roberts, Kress, and Anthony Jordan also crossed home.

Pesesky and Hunter Watson combined to strikeout nine for Troy.
