LITTLE LEAGUE: RTL HAD HOT BATS THIS MINORS BASEBALL ALL-STAR SEASON (2023-07-19)

There were just two area teams participating in the District 15 Minors Baseball All-stars this year, with RTL nearly winning it all.

They went 2-0 to win their pool, then opened up bracket play with a win over their rivals, Towanda.

A semifinal loss to Athens sent them to the elimination bracket, where they won four straight games, including a revenge win over Athens, to get into the final two. However, they fell to Wellsboro in a nail-biter to finish second in the district. 

Known for their strong offense, RTL out hit every team they played - even in the losses - and finished with 116 runs in nine games.

Towanda went 1-4, but had one of the toughest schedules in the district, as three of their five teams finished in the top three (RTL twice, Athens once). 

They did show what they could do with a big win over Southern Tioga, and a close loss to Sayre.

TOP PERFORMERS

Parker Sands, RTL: He hit .552 with 12-RBI, a triple, and a home run, while striking out 43 batters from the hill.

Nolan Putnam, RTL: He hit .720 with three doubles, one triple, one home run, and 9-RBI, while striking out 21 batters from the mound.

Noah Shaffer, RTL: He hit .630 with three doubles and 12-RBI, while striking out 28 batters from the hill.

Ethan Shaffer, RTL: He hit .519 with a double and 8-RBI.

Aiden Nystrand, RTL: He hit .571 with three doubles, one triple, one home run, and 12-RBI, to go with 20 strikeouts from the mound.

Sawyer Clouse, RTL: He hit .478 with two doubles, and 6-RBI.

Emerson Clouse, RTL: He hit .542 with two triple, one double, and 7-RBI. 

Michael Trowbridge, RTL: He hit .471 with 5-RBI, and two doubles.

Jackson Cole, RTL: He hit .357 with three doubles, a home run, and 7-RBI.

Wesley Kershner, RTL: He hit .526 with a home run, and 8-RBI.

Riley Butts, Towanda: He hit .444 with a double, and three runs scored.

Will Hollenback, Towanda: He hit .44 with a run scored.

Madden Wickwire, Towanda: He hit .333 with two runs scored.

Elijah Wilson, Towanda: He hit .375 with three runs scored.

Cole Dulaney, Towanda: He hit .300 with two doubles, and two runs scored.

Cayson Vanderpool, Towanda: A team high five runs scored.
