NTL GIRLS' SOCCER: DUNN'S GOAL THE DIFFERENCE IN TOWANDA'S WIN OVER WILLIAMSON (2023-09-26)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — Anna Dunn had a first half goal and Towanda made it stick as they shutout Williamson, 1-0, during NTL girls’ soccer action Tuesday.
Dunn scored with 24:29 left in the opening half. After going down the outside she beat her defender to the inside, getting to her strong foot and putting in the far right corner from 25-yards out.
Dunn nearly had another goal from a similar spot with four minutes left in the half, but Williamson keeper Ashley Woodring made a leaping save to keep it out of the net.
The Warriors out shot Towanda 12-7 and had a 3-0 edge in corner kicks, but the Black Knight defense kept the clean sheet. Clara Glantz finished with 10 saves in net.
The win avenges a loss from earlier in the season to Williamson.
Towanda (5-6) will take their 4-match win streak to Wellsboro on Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. start.
