NTL GOLF: TOWANDA'S IRISH QUALIFIES FOR DISTRICTS (2023-09-27)

Northern Tier Sports Report
MONTGOMERY — Towanda senior Teagan Irish kept his season going a little bit longer, shooting 88 to earn a spot in the District IV Individual Championships next week during the District IV qualifier at White Deer Wednesday.

The cut was 88 and he was the last golfer in.

Carson Glantz and Owen Lane both shot 99, while in the girls’ qualifier Peyton Perry shot a 127. She needed to hit 100 or better to qualify.

Perry had one par on the day, Glantz had four pars, while Lane finished with three pars.

Irish had four pars, 12 bogeys, and two double bogeys on the day as he avoided the big numbers.

Starting on 13 he went bogey, double bogey, bogey, and bogey for his first four holes, but then found his stride on 17 and and 18 with back to back pars.

He had four straight bogeys to start the front nine, then parred two of the next three holes to keep pace.

A bogey, followed by a double-bogey on the ninth hole meant he had little room for error on the final three holes.

Irish, though, kept his form, finishing out with three straight bogeys to make the cut.

He’ll compete next Thursday and Saturday at Williamsport Country Club.
