NTL GIRLS' SOCCER: TROY SHUTS OUT ATHENS (2023-09-28)
Northern Tier Sports ReportATHENS — Goals by Saydi Renzo and Addi Parker propelled Troy to a 2-0 win over Athens during NTL girls’ soccer action, helping them to tighten their lead in the league standings.
In the first half Parker found Renzo with 19:30 on the clock to make it 1-0. Then, in the second half, Parker scored unassisted just under 11 minutes in.
Troy out shot Athens 8-4, while the Wildcats enjoyed a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Troy keeper Madelyn Seeley had three saves on the night to get the clean sheet.
The loss puts Athens 1-1/2 half games back in the loss column, and gives Troy the tie-breaker as they own the season series.
The Trojans have just three league games left, and can clinch a fourth straight title at the end of next week with wins over Wellsboro and Williamson.
