NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: WAY'S 29 LEADS WYALUSING PAST NP-MANSFIELD (2021-01-18)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WYALUSING — Isaiah Way exploded for 29 points - all of them from the second quarter on - lead the Rams past NP-Mansfield 64-59 in their home opener during NTL boys’ basketball action Monday.

Grayden Cobb chipped in with 10 points and five steals as Hunter Moss had nine points to go with two steals.

Mitchell Burke scored five points as he grabbed eight boards, handed out four assists and nabbed two steals. Abram Bennett chipped in with five points while Lucas Milne had four and Blake Morningstar netted two.

It was an inauspicious start for the Rams, who found themselves down 13-10 after the first quarter. Kanon Dominick had six points for the Tigers to push them to the lead.

NPM then got hot in the second quarter, netting four 3-pointers en route to a 20 point second stanza.

Luckily for the Rams Way got hot, too, scoring 13 of his 29 during that eight minute stretch to keep it a 33-28 deficit at the half.

Way continued that strong play into the third quarter, scoring seven points, as his teammates stepped up. Moss hit two of three 3-pointers in the quarter as a total of five Rams had field goals to tie things up at 50-all to go into the final stanza.

Offense was in short supply for both teams as Wyalusing was just 7-for-15 from the charity stripe to keep the Tigers in it. However, NPM couldn’t take advantage, being held to just nine points in the quarter themselves.

Way’s eight points, including three field goals, were enough to push Wyalusing to the win.

Dominick led the Tigers with 20 points as Alex Stein (17) and Curtis Craig (10) also hit double figures for them.

Wyalusing (2-0) will now host Canton (3-1) on Wednesday in a big NTL Division-II match-up.
