NTL TEAMS BATTLING FOR TOP SPOTS IN THE DISTRICT IV STANDINGS (2021-01-19)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The season is barely more than a week old but it doesn’t hurt to peek at the District IV standings.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

The majority of the NTL teams reside in Class 2A with Wyalusing (.656 rating), Muncy (.598) and Canton (.528) a cut above the rest at the moment.


Montgomery (.451) is currently fourth with Line Mountain (.410), Sayre (.361), NEB (.348) and CV (.328) rounding out the top eight.


In Class 3A the competition at the top is fierce, as expected. The top four teams are all undefeated as perennial favorites Loyalsock (.797) lead the pack, followed by Central Columbia (.756), Mt. Carmel (.755) and Troy (.724).


There’s a big gap between those four and the fifth team Wellsboro (.550).


Southern Columbia (.502), South Williamsport (.473) and Bloomsburg (.411) rounded out the top eight. 


Other NTL teams are NP-Mansfield (.410) in ninth and Williamson (.255) 11th while Towanda hasn’t been updated.


Athens is in Class 4A where undefeated Mifflinburg (.698) leads the way, followed by Danville (.638), Montoursville (.609) and Shamokin (.597).


The Wildcats (.544) are currently fifth with Jersey Shore (.519), Lewisburg (.467) and Milton (.380) rounding out the top eight.


St. John Neumann (.751) leads the Class 1A standings followed by NP-Liberty (.706). 


There’s a big drop off to Millville (.378) and Northumberland Christian School (.367) for the top four. Lourdes (.329), Meadowbrook (.278), Benton (.183) and Juniata Christian (.133) round out the top eight.


GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

For girls’ basketball NEB (.506) is the highest NTL seed in Class 2A in fifth with Canton (.486) in sixth and Wyalusing (.453) seventh.


Mt. Carmel (.812) leads the standings followed by South Williamsport (.723), Muncy (.590) and Southern Columbia (.518).


East Juniata (.353) rounded out the top eight.


In Class 3A Troy (.267) is sixth with Wellsboro (.290) fifth. Towanda is currently unrated.


Bloomsburg (.709) leads the way followed by Loyalsock (.701), Hughesville (.459) and Line Mountain (.307) in the top four. 


In Class 4A Athens (.605) is currently third behind Lewisburg (.680) and Shamokin (.643). 


Central Columbia (.533), Mifflinburg (.497), Midd-West (.471), Milton (.460) and Danville (.407) round out the top eight.


Northumberland Christian School (.721) lead the Class A standings with Lourdes (.483), Meadowbrook (.410) and St. John Neumann (.352) rounding out the top four.


Montgomery (.304) is fifth followed by Juniata Christian (.260), CV (.260) and Bucktail (.158) in the top eight.


WRESTLING

Canton (5-0) is currently second in the team duals standings, right behind Montgomery (7-0). 


Montoursville (4-0), Milton (3-0), Wyalusing (1-0) and Faith Christian Academy (1-0) are all undefeated and sit in the top six.


Rounding out the top eight are Warrior Run (2-1) and Towanda (3-2). Other NTL teams are Athens (4-3) in 10th, Williamson (2-4) in 16th, Troy (1-2) in 18th, NEB (0-3) in 30th and Sayre (0-5) 33rd.
