CANTON — Canton rode a career-high 21-point night from senior Reagan Kelley to pick up its third win of the season, downing Williamson 49-34 here Tuesday night in NTL girls basketball action.

Williamson opened the game with two quick baskets, but a balanced scoring attack by the Lady Warriors helped them build a 13-9 lead, as all five starters scored in the quarter.

A low-scoring second quarter saw Canton sophomore Emmie Tymeson net a pair of buckets, helping extend the home Lady Warriors lead to 20-15 at the half.

After the break, Kelley went to work inside, scoring on two nice passes from Aislyn Williams.  She would complete the old-fashioned three-point play on the second basket, giving her seven points in the frame and upping Canton’s lead to 35-27 entering the final eight minutes.

Kelley collected two more scores to start the fourth quarter, and after a Molly Ward putback, went on her own 6-0 run to seal the win for Canton.

In addition to her team-high 21 points, Kelley grabbed seven rebounds.

Canton Coach Casey Aylesworth was thankful for Kelly’s offensive outburst, especially with his only other senior starter, Courteney Weiskopft, out with an injury.
“Reagan played really well”, Aylesworth said. “A lot of her rebounds were offensive, and she was able to give us a boost while we were missing a starter.”

Tymeson finished with nine points, and Ward scored six points, grabbed 13 rebounds and handed out five assists.

Williams scored six points, while Gracie Mead added four points and Carolyn Thoren chipped in with three points.

Lateisha Peterson had a game-high 22 points for Williamson, which drops to 1-5 on the season.
Canton, now 3-1, hosts Troy (1-3) on Thursday.
