NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: WYALUSING DROPS OPENER TO SUSQUEHANNA (2023-12-01)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWYALUSING — Wyalusing couldn’t overcome a cold shooting second quarter as they fell to Susquehanna, 40-27, in their boys’ basketball season opener during the Susquehanna-Bradford County Challenge Friday.
Trehnon Hugo led the way with 11 points for the Rams as Zabiah Walton scored six. Parker Petlock and Nick Vanderpool Jr. each had three points, while hunter House and Will McBride both chipped in with two points apiece.
The Rams led after the first horn, 10-8, behind four points from both Hugo and Walton. However, Susquehanna out scored them 16-2 in the second to take a 24-12 lead at the half.
Wyalusing rallied in the third quarter, cutting it to 31-23 as five different players found the offense in the frame.
However, they were held to just one bucket in the fourth quarter - a Hugo 3-ball - as Susquehanna pulled away for the win.
The Challenge continues on Saturday as Wyalusing hosts Blue Ridge for a 3 p.m. afternoon tip-off.
