NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA FALLS AT WAVERLY (2023-12-29)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWAVERLY, N.Y. — Towanda struggled from the field in their 57-24 loss to Waverly during non-league girls’ basketball action Friday.
They were down 29-6 at the half, though did end strong with an 11-point fourth quarter.
Brynn Woodruff had nine points, 10 boards, and two steals to lead Towanda as Melody Hakes added seven points, four boards, and three steals.
Payton Perry had four points, five boards, and four steals, with Mya Maynard getting four points to go with 12 rebounds.
Kennedy Heyer chipped in with two steals.
Ryleigh Judson led Waverly with 18 points.
The Knights were down 13-4 after the first quarter as Perry had their lone field. The Wolverines held them to two second quarter points as they took the 23 points lead.
Hakes would net five points in the third as Towanda netted seven, while Woodruff scored seven of her nine points in their 11 point fourth quarter.
Towanda (3-4) will host Wyalusing next Wednesday.
